Microsoft Pre-Requisites for SolidWorks 2010

This tech tip is straight out of the SolidWorks Knowledge Database on the requirements for 2010 SolidWorks. If your just loading SolidWorks most of these will load for you, but if the program is not working correctly then it might be worth working through this list one by one and  uninstall and then reinstall.

Handling files with both RealView and regular SolidWorks Appearance Data

In 2009 SolidWorks consolidated and relieved the need to establish colors and textures for both rendering with RealView graphics and normal SolidWorks rendering.  In 2010 it has improved the handling of this information for legacy files.

Viewing Dimension Names in SolidWorks 2010

If you write equations, create design tables, use DriveWorksXpress or have any other reason to view your dimensions while in an assembly or part file then you’ll need to know where to find the setting after upgrading to SolidWorks 2010.

Inspection Reports and Design Tables with SolidWorks.

Creating inspection reports for SolidWorks models manually takes time and creates redundant work since the CAD models themselves are capable of being toleranced. Using a Design Table to control dimensions and tolerances allows users to create an inspection report in Excel while still controlling the dimensions for the SolidWorks model.
