New Selection Tool: Select Connected Faces

SolidWorks 2009 Service Pack 2.0 introduces a new selection tool called ‘Select Connected Faces‘.

This new tool is accessible from the right click menu and allows for several new selection options.

To use the new selection tool right click on any face and select ‘Select Connected Faces‘.

You will then be presented with a pop-up menu which displays several selection options.

This screen shot shows the following selection options (from left to right):

  • Select surrounding
  • Select inner loops
  • Select all inner and outer loops
  • All co-planar and connected faces
  • All tangent faces
  • Internal to feature

As of this writing the new selection tool is only available in Service Pack 2.0: Early Visibility but is anticipated to be available in the production release of Service Pack 2 for SolidWorks 2009.
