There is an automated way to populate file properties across multiple files at once through the SolidWorks Task Scheduler.
In my last tip I covered how to manually perform this function on single files, and should be considered first if you only need to update a handful of files.
Launch Task Scheduler from the Start/All Programs/SolidWorks 2008/SolidWorks 2008 SP4.0/SolidWorks Tools/SolidWorksTask Scheduler.
From inside the Task Scheduler, select Update Custom Properties.
Then add the appropriate Files and/or Folders.
After you hit next, this is where you enter the file properties you want to be added or modified to the files shown above.
***Please note that if the files you selected already have these identical properties then the Value will be replaced with this value you specified here.
After you Select finish the task will be ready to go.
The other method of automatically stamping File properties is to set up your PDMWorks VaultAdmin Properties Tab. These properties will be used during check in, therefore they will be added to all the files checked into the vault. Additionally these propertied can be searched by from within the vault.
